Smudged Lips | MakeupTrend

The many liquid lipsticks that appear on the makeup market may be smudge proof, but that is not where it's at this summer. Lipstick will look lived in or will be barely detectable. Lines blurred, lips patchy, let's have a look at this summer's makeup trend: smudged lips.

'She is wearing a hat!' | The Charlie Bowler

A hat. What do you think? Is it supercilious or is it just another way to make your outfit more interesting? I often feel like you can’t just wear a hat because you feel like wearing a hat. A hat is loud. It screams ‘I am wearing a hat!’ It all seems very obvious and in your face. Not very Jana to be honest. But, I bought this hat for a reason and it’s not going to fulfill its life purpose by collecting dust in my wardrobe. So, throw me a cane and get out of my way, because I’m Charlie Chaplining throughout my day!

The Grown Up Jelly Shoe | Creeper Sandals

A series of exams, my new-found obsession with the Man Repeller and a serious case of retail therapy might have led to some new purchases. Say hi to these new babies: my very first pair of creeper sandals. They are white, loud and understated all at the same time. And yes, creeper sandals are pretty much jelly sandals for grown ups. Nothing wrong with a little 90s fever.

Bold Blue | SS16 Makeup

Is it possible to incorporate runway makeup into your daily life? Well, I have made it my mission! My daily makeup with the blushed cheeks and the simple eye makeup is just not cutting it anymore. I need some color! And there was plenty of color in the Spring Summer ‘16 runway makeup. So, I delved into the photo archive of pretty much every fashion magazine and selected some of my favorite looks. (I might have made a mood board as well. Read: this might turn into a little series!) The first look I decided to go for is a mix of the Fendi graphic liner and the blue eye makeup obsession.

Ruffle Rumble

This tomboy is making her way into girlines with this spring-summer trend: ruffles! I used to avoid ruffles like there was no tomorrow. An expression of disgust would adorn my face every time my mom would try to get me to put on a frilly ruffle-y dress. What can I say? I just have always liked a simpler minimal look. However, now ruffles are back - and I am actually picking out my own clothes - I seem to have found a piece of clothing combining my minimal style and my secret love for some ruffles here and there

New Season, New Eyeshadow stick | Essence Review

It’s a well-known fact that I’m a sucker for a good cream eyeshadow, preferably in stick form. I’m just not a morning person. So I can’t be bothered with putting a lot of time into my makeup on the early mornings. In February, I reviewed the Rimmel Magnifeyes eyeshadow stick, and I still love that one, but I lately I have been loving a more minimal and simple look and the Rimmel one is quite full on. So, I decided to branch out and try the new Essence 2-in-1 eyeshadow & liner sticks.

Time for an updated makeup routine that actually corresponds with my appearance. Click the video below to see my spring makeup with a Parisian twist! I hope you enjoy!

TOMBOY DRESS UP | Dungaree Dress

Being a tomboy by nature, I have never been one for dresses or skirts. The times I did wear one, it was mainly because of silly gender roles and a stupid will to fit in. This dungaree dress however complements my not so girly personality perfectly. It’s a plain black denim dress with a minimalist seventies feel. And I have been all about those seventies lately. Not the in your face floral print kind, but more so a dialed down minimal version. After all, I do have to brave the streets and stares of 2k16.

70s Minimalism | Try-on haul

After winter that did not seem to end, it was time for a big spring clean-up. I reorganized my wardrobe and threw out any fall/winter item I didn’t get to wearing this past season. As I went through my clothes I noticed some key pieces missing as well as some well-loved pieces falling apart. It was high time for some replacements and a few new bits. There is definitely a 70s minimalist vibe to this one. Enjoy.
