By the
picture above, you can probably tell that I have been on the hunt for the
perfect festive red lip. I have searched high and low all year in pursue of several
variations of red lipsticks that suit my skin tone perfectly. And I think, I can
now safely say, that I have found them. And just in time for the end-of-year
festivities.
Bright
I usually reserve the bright reds/oranges for the spring-summer months, so I probably won’t be wearing this one on Christmas day. But if I would wear a bright red, it would definitely be this one. The lipsticks from the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet line are super long-lasting. If you want a red lipstick that is going to stay throughout Christmas dinner, I couldn’t recommend this one enough. The color I decided to go for is Hot Pepper, a favorite of many in the beauty blogger world.
The Classic Red
Ah… the
classic red. Daring but classy. It’s good for spicing up any kind of look, but it's so hard to find your true match. And I have been lucky to have found two. They
are both from Maybelline, a matte one and a creamy one. The first one, the
creamy one, is called Pleasure Me Red (547). This is actually the lipstick my
mom used to wear as I was growing up, so it has a little bit of a special place
in my heart. The second one is a matte, and therefore it lasts longer than the creamy one. This one is called Siren in Scarlet
(965).
Edgy Dark
This one is
probably my favorite of all the reds. If I’m not wearing a nude lipstick, you
can probably find a beautiful berry shade on my lips. I often go back and forth
between this one, Maybelline’s CS Matte in Divine Wine (975) and one of Maybelline’s
Color Drama Lip Pencils, Berry Much (310). But for the festive season,
considering all the parties and the food, I decided to go for Divine Wine.
Since it’s a matte, it is long lasting and it doesn’t go smudging around every
time a strand of hair finds its way to your mouth.
That’s my
lipstick sorted! Let the festivities begin!
